Character Description

As we all know Sylvia is the mother of Sonny. Throughout the book, it is clear that Sylvia is a mother that has not been much of a mother to Sonny. Sylvia is portrayed as a mother who was not really always there for Sonny. We can see this in the book when Sonny says, " It was that my mom if she wasn't at her job, was out on dates and whatever. And sometimes she'd get in so late I wouldn't be awake" (Gilb 5).
We can also see that she is really into looking nice everyday. For example, Sonny states, " She was being too pretty like always" (Gilb 10). Sonny goes on and says, " My mom was dressed too pretty to take serious, shampoo in her hair and body lotion smell..." (Gilb 17). These quotes show that Sylvia takes much care about her appearance when instead she could be taking care of Sonny.

My mother never...

My mother never stops working. Everyday she seems to have so many things to do. She cleans, she cooks, and she cleans some more. She is a housewife so she stays at home while me, my four sisters and my one brother go to school.
My mother never gave up when it came to raising us. Having to take care of six children is hard. I know this because for many it is already hard having to raise one child, imagine six of them. Now that must be hard. Not only does she have to cook enough for all the family but has to do all the other house chores.  
My mother never finished school, yet she always helped me and my other sisters with our homework. Whenever I needed help she would do her best in helping me. She never learned english so it was hard for her to help me when it came to writing. She did help me in math though, and when it came to reading or writing she could not help me but she got someone to do so.
Overall my mother never let me down. She has always been someone who I could trust and look up for advice. She always tells me to try my best and never give up. I know that when I get home she is always there just waiting for us.

Hello. I am Daisy

I am Daisy Rodriguez. This will be my second year here at Gavilan College. Currently I am taking courses to complete my general education requirements. After Gavilan, I plan to transfer to a four year University. Right now I am thinking about majoring in Psychology.
For fun, I enjoy doing from everything. I love going out for walks and running. I also enjoy going out to the movies with friends and my sisters. I come from a big family so I consider my family very important. I mostly go out with my sisters because I have four of them and we are around the same age, just a few years apart. I also have one brother.
Other things that I enjoy include going to theme parks. I love roller coasters! I like to go shopping too, but I have learned not to waste too much. I also enjoy listening to music. I do not have a certain type that I like so I listen to any kind.
When it comes to reading I will read but what I read has to be interesting. I consider myself an okay reader. In writing I also think I do alright. I enjoy writing. In this class I will hopefully improve in those areas that I need help.
